The Two Filter Grades
Both are water-based acrylic emulsions. They are not interchangeable: one goes on the filter element, the other on the end cap.

Two Parts of the Same Filter
A filter is not one bonding problem, it is two. The element, whether cloth or paper, has to be bonded and coated so it holds its pleats and its shape in service. That is what PX-1077 is formulated for, across air, oil and cabin filters.
The end cap is a different job. It seals and holds the element, and unlike the media it is often visible. PX-1059 is formulated not to yellow, so the cap still looks right over the filter's service life.
If you make filters and also label them, our water-based PSA range includes a REACH and RoHS compliant grade used for auto component labelling.

Which grade goes where in the filter?+
PX-1077 is for the filter element itself, in cloth or paper, and is used in air filter, oil filter and cabin filter production as well as industrial filters. PX-1059 is for the end caps, where it bonds and seals the cap to the element.
Why does non-yellowing matter on end caps?+
PX-1059 is formulated not to yellow, so the cap keeps its appearance over the filter's service life. On a part a customer or a technician can see, a cap that has discoloured reads as an old or poor-quality filter even when the filter is working perfectly.
Can I get the technical datasheets?+
Yes. These two grades are not published as downloads on the site, but we send the datasheets by email on request. Tell us which grade and what you are making and we will send them along with a sample.
Are these water-based?+
Yes. Both are water-based acrylic emulsions, made at our Roorkee plant. Water-based is the whole of what we manufacture apart from two hot melt grades.
Do you develop grades for a specific filter construction?+
Yes. We develop application-specific grades where a customer needs a particular set of properties. Send us your construction, your process and the performance you have to hit, and our technical team will work from that.
